OUR OPERATIONS

Pennsylvania Projects

Liberty Power has had a presence in Pennsylvania for more than five years as the owner and operator of the Sandy Ridge Wind Farm. That project includes nine turbines in Taylor Township, Centre County, and 16 turbines on property that Tyrone Borough owns in Snyder Township, Blair County. The 50-megawatt wind farm achieved commercial operation in 2012 and produces enough clean electricity to power about 15,000 homes a year.

Liberty Power

Liberty Power, a subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (“APUC”), is a non-regulated independent power producer that owns or has interest in a portfolio of North American contracted wind, solar, hydroelectric, and natural gas powered generating facilities representing more than 1.5 GW of installed capacity. Algonquin has more than 35 contracted renewable and clean energy facilities with over 1.5 GW of gross installed capacities. APUC currently owns more than $10 billion of assets with a portfolio of development projects that will add roughly 486 MW of generating capacity from wind and solar powered generating stations through 2016. Such growth requires strong collaboration with the communities that host Algonquin’s projects thus, Algonquin’s focus on community engagement is a corporate best practice in the planning and development of the company’s projects.
