CARBON COUNTY (WOLF) — There are new plans in the works for a 290 acre wind farm in Carbon County.

Broad Mountain Power wants to install 21 wind turbines in Packer Township.

Each of them will connect to new substations that transfers electricity to the transmission network.

The project will generate 128 million dollars for Pennsylvania and support 420 jobs every year.

The company presented plans to the zoning board tonight.

“Renewable energy is a very positive thing-it’s good economically, it’s good environmentally, it creates local jobs, and produces clean power. It’s low cost power so the benefits far outweigh any of its impacts,” said Project Manager Rob Miller.

When it’s finished, the project will also produce enough clean electricity to power about 25,000 homes a year.

If approved, construction could begin next Spring.
